Titanium Dial
Titanium is rarely used in dial-making — not for lack of value, but because of the extreme demands its machining imposes.
Hard, elastic, and structurally stable, titanium behaves differently from traditional horological metals. Its processing requires tightly controlled cutting speeds, dedicated tooling, and virtually zero tolerance for error. The material offers no forgiveness.
For the Lumière collection, the dial is crafted from solid titanium and entirely machined on high-precision CNC equipment. The radial guilloché is engraved directly into the material — not stamped, not applied — with each groove defined by a precise depth and angle to control the way light is reflected across the surface.
Following engraving, the titanium undergoes a controlled anodization process, through which color is achieved without pigments or surface coatings. The hue results solely from a modification of the material’s oxide layer, providing exceptional chromatic stability and a visual depth unattainable through conventional finishing techniques.
This process allows a singular interaction between guilloché and light: the color does not conceal the texture, but amplifies it, revealing the sculptural nature of the dial as viewing angles change.
The result is a dial that is not merely visible,
but constructed.
